It's important to have a nuanced and neutral view of feminism so that everyone can make a fair assessment for themselves. To that end, this page will list both positive and negative things about feminism. Both sides must be portrayed in an honest way.

The good

Now that gender roles are increasingly being left behind and women are emancipated, it's only natural that women want to be valued for their personality rather than their looks. People should be decent to each other and treat people equally regardless of their gender. Feminism reminds people that women are, first and foremost, individuals just like anyone else. Deeper bonds can be formed between people of opposite sexes when personality is the focus. In this sense, feminism contributes to a more intellectual society. It's still normal to objectify women, which attests to the continued relevance of this movement.

Women being part of the workforce contributes to a higher GDP.

The bad

The name gives away that the movement treats women with preference, which doesn't conform to standards of egalitarianism. Feminists will say they support egalitarianism, but that there is no need to use that term because all inequality arises from an unfair treatment toward women. It becomes clear then that they systematically deny the problems that men encounter in an increasingly mysocentric world. No attention is given to the fact that the overwhelming majority of people who end up homeless and / or suicidal are men.

Feminism is a form of identity politics which contributes to polarization and radicalization. It's all too common for feminists not to tolerate any kind of criticism and to react in an embittered way by destroying the lives of whoever is then branded an enemy. In this sense it contributes to a black and white thinking. Examples include a middle aged woman who tweeted something that's controversial to the younger generation, stepped unto a plane with her phone in airplane mode, and upon arrival discovered that in the meantime people had spread her tweet across Twitter in outrage, her employer got contacted, and she had lost her job.Template:Citation needed Another one is a deacon expressing dismay over how he tends to make women cry in relationships and this, because of his wording, being taken to mean that women are quicker to cry then men. This likewise spread across Twitter and resulted in the end of his decades spanning career at the university.Template:Citation needed This is a form of cyberbullying, although feminists will never admit this. They only portray themselves as victims because they have a victim mentality. This is part of a larger framework of slave morality.

As women become more emancipated and free to pick their partners, there arises an implicit ruthlessness toward men. Women tend to pick the most successful men as partners, which are by necessity a small minority, while the majority of men are left lonely and frustrated. There is no guiding factor from communities through arranged marriage or matchmakers, but on the other hand, women are free to withhold their attention from men who don't conform to their high standards. Because only unwanted attention is seen as problematic and not the inverse problem of attention deprivation which men struggle with, individuals' only option is to compete for success regardless of the stress that this brings. This results in the inhumane treatment of social darwinism (which is ironic, considering that most feminists are leftists).

Another result is a form of polygamy where the attention of women is monopolized by the most successful men, but this also happens on a tentative basis where the relationships aren't steady because those men have choice. Fewer people overall (both men and women) are in steady relationships. The institution of marriage is in decline, and even when it takes place, it isn't definitive, as about half of the marriages end in divorce.

All in all, it can be said that what used to be near-guarantees in life are taken away from everyone. These are needs in terms of intimate relationships, which are relatively foundational in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

Because the sexual revolution has normalized casual sex, STDs spread around more.

The rigor of science is threatened by the influence feminism has on academia. Anything that's offensive to feminists is combatted vehemently even when it's steeped in fact. The same is true in institutions at large. An example is the Google memo.
