Pushing the hypothesis

Jordan Peterson uses the phrase, "you're pushing the hypothesis," to mean they make unlikely speculations only to hold on to what was originally posited. It's something many quackademics are guilty of. This is powerful terminology to be used in persuasive writing / speaking.
