More soon.

This is an evolving proposal to to develop and produce at least one promotional video for Sophia Sevo in line with her New Blue Ontario election campaign plans for the Windsor, Ontario seat in the 2025 Provincial Election, rapidly approaching on February 27, 2025.

Started February 3 between Sophia Sevo, Jason Carswell, and Vincent Cease.

Ideally we'd get it all planned ASAP, to shoot ASAP, to edit and tweak and refine ASAP, and promote to the masses ASAP.

Production goals

  1. Compel folks to elect Sophia.
  2. Develop and produce the video(s) ASAP!!!
  3. Glamourize Sophia the visionary, her ideas, and her city.
  4. Create dynamic and engaging videos.
  5. Tie into and build other campaign avenues.
  6. Quality over quantity.
  7. Promote like heck.

Pre-production

Video concepts

Note: If these concepts don't inspire we can come up with other ideas. There's no end to Jason's creativity.
Note: These concepts may continue to evolve until this note is removed as the concepts will then be settled upon and "locked in".

Summary

1. Flexible - Simply gather a monster load of cinematic footage of Sophia Sevo®, key locations, and stunning Windsor - then we'll add a voice-over narrative, music, and graphics in post-production.

2. Gorgeous - We should try to present the most beautiful video(s) we are capable of - imagery, music, essence. We may determine whether it's emotional or not, heavy handed or subtle, or whatever. To compete with in the big leagues we need to prize quality over quantity.

3. Sequential - We can build anticipation with a narrative over time across a series of related videos. This repetition will keep Sophia Sevo® on people's minds when they finally vote.

4. Audacious - Mild or bold as you like, this campaign needs to be memorable in as many ways as possible. This is where the tone and narrative creativity comes in.

5. Relevant - In these trying times it's time to try something New, something Blue, and someone like Sophia Sevo® who aims to help and improve the lives of Windsor.

Flexible

To be as practical as possible we may reduce as many potential point of failures as possible.

Avoid most on-camera dialogue. Instead after, record a nice audio voice-over to go with the pretty imagery.

Shoot as much beautiful video stock footage as possible to edit with.

With the video record the audio in case it's useful, but don't depend on it.

Maybe have a few shots where she might say something to camera to punctuate an important idea. Experiment with some short lines of dialogue (not entire speeches or narratives) but don't depend on it. If poor audio is recorded (background noise, clipping levels, diction, technical issues, wind, etc.) Sophia may over-dub the short lines, but don't depend on it as over-dubbing can be tedious, depending.

Ideally the shooting would be a well-pre-planned long-day out in her car. Or, maybe less-long over a few days. Regardless, the sooner the better.

Maybe we can try to get other spontaneous pickup shots if/when plausible and depending on the weather (ie. Sophia in a snowstorm, a nice sunset/sunrise, chemtrails, Sophia helping at community event(s), etc.).

After primary shooting, the most flexibility will be in the editing - but only if we have enough great footage with broad coverage to work on.

Gorgeous

For better and worse, the general population is superficial, so just having good ideas is not enough.

We can make Sophia look more beautiful than usual.

We can make Windsor look more beautiful than usual.

We won't need to falsify anything, but we will be selective about what to accentuate, highlight, and focus on.

This is a glamour shoot.

We should find Sophia a good vanity stylist (hair, makeup, wardrobe) that she can trust.

We need to come up with a list of typical tourist locations as well as topical key issues in their locations were we can guerilla shoot (get in, shoot, and get out - before any issues arise if in doubt).

Sequential

Sequential - We can build anticipation with a narrative over time across a series of related videos. This repetition will keep Sophia Sevo® on people's minds when they finally vote.

Repetitive motifs mixed with fresh content may drill into people's brains with this example lineup:

  1. Teaser video (5 seconds)
  2. Trailer video (15 seconds)
  3. Short video (60 minute)
  4. Deep-dive video (5 minutes)
  5. Reminder-to-vote video (1 minute)
  6. Did-you-vote-today? video (15 seconds)

Depending on the "audacious" devices (below) we use and whatever sequential premise we might employ, we may mostly use Sophia Sevo® voice-over with pretty footage about town. However, for the longest deep-dive video we could shoot a special interview-like scenario only hinted at in the other videos.

It will be critically important to let viewers know that they are watching one of several videos and that they can learn more and watch them all at a specific web address.

Audacious

A funny commercial, an insightful quote, a witty meme, a heartbreaking movie, a romantic ballad, a great joke, a rockin' tune - these won't easily be forgotten.

Mild or bold as you like, this campaign needs to be memorable in as many ways as possible. This is where the tone and narrative creativity comes in.

Even if Sophia Sevo® doesn't win this election, we can carry this momentum on to the next effort, and build further upon it - until undeniable.

Relevant

In these trying times it's time to try something New, something Blue, and someone like Sophia Sevo® who aims to help and improve the lives of Windsor.

  • What's the point?
  • Who is affected?
  • How are they connected?
  • Who is Sophia Sevo®?
  • Who is New Blue Ontario?
  • How do these videos connect Sophia and New Blue?
  • Can some of this be open-source utilized in other districts and years later?
  • What may, can, and will be changed?
  • What peace of mind can come to bear?

Video gear

Vincent has two high-end cameras with many fancy lenses capable of professional photography and/or video. He also just got some nice professional lavalier RØDE Wireless ME Dual Microphones. Also, professional lighting.

Jason has a Akaso V50 Elite (Ultra HD 4K 60fps Action Camera) (like a GoPro) and a capable Moto-G Android phone, various microphones, a variety of lighting options, miscellaneous gear, and an abundance of professional production and post experience. Jason could likely borrow another couple Akaso action cameras if necessary, and/or rent proper gear (cameras, mics, etc.) from Amanda at the Windsor Media Centre.

There's no time for printed flyers, but video(s) we could do in a rush.

Challenges

  • Neither Jason nor Vincent has a car.
  • Our competitors have a head start in time and budget.
  • Time is short.

Needs

Get the design-bible from New Blue Ontario. (They seem like they have their act together better than the PPC who had no design-bible.)

Jason and Vincent are not asking for nor expecting any payment - but if offered, we'll be grateful and won't turn it down.
