QR codes
Avoid "quick read" QR codes at all costs.
Just some reasons to avoid QR codes:
- Convenience trains you to be conformist, lazy, as well as dependent and addicted to technologies you can not fully control.
- You're forced to trust all involved in making the image - hardware, software, image maker, employer, advertisers, corporations, etc. Any or all of these may have been compromised or corrupted.
- Countless industries are determined to track you and sell your data - including QR code generated data.
- Countless QR code generators direct you to a tracking site before sending you to the final target site.
- Malware and spyware may be infiltrate your devices during redirection.
- Even if you use and open-source QR code generator, there's no guarantee others will use them.
- Even if a QR code claims it was open-source generated there's no way to verify.
- It's laughably easy to create fake QR code scams.
