The so-called great [[Irish potato famine]] was nothing of the sort. It was a British inflicted [[Irish Holocaust]]. There were more British soldiers occupying the little Irish island than occupying the entire Indian subcontinent. Their food and land and lives were stolen and shipped to England for profit on an incomprehensible scale. That said, despite perpetuating some of that potato blame myth, they also managed to portray an amazing amount of the real class struggle. (The IMDb trivia and goofs sections are mostly great too.) There are other wonderful historical nuggets in there too that I won't spoil for you.
