QR codes
Avoid "quick read" QR codes at all costs.
Just some reasons to avoid QR codes:
- Convenience trains you to be conformist, lazy, as well as dependent and addicted to technologies you can not fully control.
- You're forced to trust all involved in making the image - hardware, software, image maker, employer, advertisers, corporations, etc. Any or all of these may have been compromised or corrupted.
- Countless industries are determined to track you and sell your data - including QR code generated data.
- Countless QR code generators direct you to a tracking site before sending you to the final target site.
- Malware and spyware may infiltrate your devices during redirection.
- Even if you use and open-source QR code generator, there's no guarantee others will use them.
- Even if a QR code claims it was open-source generated there's no way to verify.
- It's laughably easy to create fake QR code scams.

Unsorted
This stuff needs to be sorted appropriately, perhaps in the process of an overhaul of 1) Decentralized alternatives, 2) Economic alternatives, 3) Security alternatives, and 4) Technology alternatives. All of this may warrant further discussion about pragmatic and useful listicle organizing and management.
